The Nussbaum Family
In 1800 Manes Nussbaum and his wife Marianne moved to Hammelburg. Manes was born on August 19, 1771 in Burghaun nearby Fulda. Marianne was born on May 5, 1779 in Willmars. In 1811 Manes Nussbaum belonged to those 24 Jewish men, who got the right to live in Hammelburg.
Manes and Marianne had three sons and four daughters:
Samuel (February 20, 1801) Israel (November 18, 1804) Hirsch (May 20, 1806)
Fayel (June 2, 1807) Regina (February 8, 1809) Minnah (September 26, 1815) Babette (April 8, 1819)

Since 1800 the Nussbaum family lived in the old city of Hammelburg. Manes Nussbaum was a cloth merchant. His three sons settled down in Hammelburg: Samuel Nussbaum (1801 - 1885) Israel Nussbaum (1804 - 1881) Hirsch Nussbaum (1806 - 1887) |

Samuel Nussbaum and his wife Carolina Bamberger had the following children: Fannij (* 1830), Elise (* 1832), Babette (* 1834) and Clara (* 1836).
Israel Nussbaum and his wife Theresia Rosenberg had the following children: Seligmann (* + 1827), Fannij (* 1829), Isaias (* + 1830), Pauline (* 1831), Philippine (* + 1834), Löw Leopold (* 1835) and Simon (* + 1838). Löw Leopold Nussbaum settled down in Hammelburg. His son was Ferdinand Nussbaum.
Hirsch Nussbaum and his wife Sophie Frank had the following children: Louise (* July 29, 1843 + August 19, 1843), Selig Sigmund (December 11, 1844), Adolph (July 11, 1846), Simon (October 4, 1848) and Lena (June 13, 1851). Sigmund, Adolph and Simon Nussbaum settled down in Hammelburg.

Sigmund Nussbaum (*1844), son of Hirsch Nussbaum, and his wife Regina Bergen, Marktplatz 10; their children were Martha (*1873) Rosa (*1874) Martell Ernst Max (*1875) and Melanie.
Adolph Nussbaum (*1846), son of Hirsch Nussbaum, with his wife Clara Berliner, Marktplatz 10 and Bahnhofstraße 3; their children were Martell (*1877) and Manfred (*1883).
Simon Nussbaum (*1848), son of Hirsch Nussbaum, with his wife Pauline Sichel, Kissinger Straße 3 - 5; their children were Markus (*1878) Rosa (*1880) Meta (*1883) Carl (*1885) and Hermann (*1891).
The children and grandchildren of Leopold, Sigmund, Adolph and Simon Nussbaum were persecuted in the Nazi-time, because they were Jews. They must sell cheap their houses, their stores and all possessions. They must leave their town, where they lived. They must go away with a suitcase in the hand:

In August 2014 Charlotte Isler and her son Donald visited Stuttgart and Hammelburg, the hometown of Charlottes father Manfred Nussbaum. 
Manes and Marianne Nussbaum and their descendants lived there - in Hammelburg - from 1800 to 1938.
